The Compay Segundo Group, in its tour of the Republic of Vietnam, participated in a dinner-concert, offered by the Poussières Association of Viet Nam that aimed at raising funds for institutions and organizations that host children without subsidiary protection of the country Indochinese.
On this occasion, the group offered a totally free concert. The collection was valued at more than twenty-five thousand dollars (USD 25,000.00).
For its part, the Compay Segundo Group auctioned a Selmer brand Clarinet, from the prestigious musical instrument manufacturing company in Paris, and a guayabera donated by Comercial Lauros, branch of Promotions Artistic and Literary (Artex S.A) of Cuba.
This is a common practice of the Cuban musical group, even since the years in which Compay himself directed the group. It is unforgettable the occasion in which, motivated by Fidel Castro, Francisco Repilado -Compay- will auction his hat in one of the Habano Festivals that are celebrated in the Caribbean island, to donate the money to the social benefit of Cuban children and youth.
This tradition was preserved by Salvador Repilado who, along with his group and the House-Museum that bears his father's name, maintain frequent donations and presentations in educational centers such as the school for blind and visually impaired children Abel Santamaría, in the capital Cuban Examples like this are part of the daily life of the notable Cuban group of traditional music.
